As we begin 2021, we’re moving from a period of divisiveness into a period filled with new opportunities for service. To embrace the spirit of this new era, we are challenging you to join us for a Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. as we attempt to feed 10,000 experiencing food insecurity!

Serving Hope

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, we are calling on you to help us feed 10,000 experiencing food insecurity.

STEP ONE: On or before Monday, January 18, donate as many meals as you can to those affected by the turbulent times humanity is facing. You can achieve this in any way you like, but here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Make a food donation to your local homeless shelter or food bank
  • Order groceries for a struggling family in your community (outside your own household)
  • Provide a contactless, socially-distanced meal to someone undergoing hardship*
  • Create “snack bags” of prepackaged foods for people experiencing homelessness*
  • Pledge to volunteer for organizations that fight food insecurity
  • Make a donation to Random Acts’ Serving Hope program, which will provide education and resources to marginalized communities

STEP TWO: Post images or videos of your Serving Hope action on social media tagged #RAServingHope and #DayOfService so we can celebrate your accomplishments. Make sure to state how many people you fed, too. Every meal makes a world of difference!

STEP THREE: PLEDGE TO HELP US BUILD A KINDER FUTURE. Fill out the form on this page to share your Day of Service story with us, then pledge to take action with us on future initiatives to change the world through Random Acts of Kindness! We’ll help you to take action through individual acts and ambitious initiatives that empower you to help make a difference in your community and around the world.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please observe all safety protocols appropriate to your area and respect local rules and regulations. Wear a mask and gloves, observe CDC guidelines for physical distancing, and do contactless delivery of any goods donated.

Our mission at Random Acts is to change the lives of people all around the world one act of kindness at a time. We do this by providing small-scale grants to fund acts with big impact as well as larger, life-changing initiatives. Random Acts makes it possible for anyone to become part of a community of kindness.

As the holiday season draws near in many countries around the globe, food insecurity becomes more prominent. Low-income families often rely on schools to provide breakfast and lunch for their children on school days. So when schools are closed for the holidays, these children rely on food banks and other programs for their meals.

While many of us are looking ahead into 2020, we here at Random Acts continue to look back at the many acts of kindness demonstrated throughout 2019. This time, the #RANoHungryChild campaign heads to Virginia, where a radio station, a 4-year-old honorary fire chief, and Random Acts Executive Assistant Chuck Faustine came together to help feed hungry families.

Now more than ever, food insecurity has become a harsh reality for many families. Thankfully, there are organizations scattered in communities across the country that aim to help families fight this battle, and Regional Representative and Junior Writer Samara Cogan decided to help one Seattle program continue its mission of combating food insecurity for local children!

For the past year, Random Acts has been tackling the issue of childhood hunger through the #RANoHungryChild movement. This past December, the fight continued in Florida at the Betty Griffin Center. Sharing a personal connection to their cause, Random Acts HR Recruiter Stephanie McCabe leaped at the opportunity to help the center.
