Thank you so much to everyone who visited the Random Acts table at the Salute to Supernatural convention in Burbank this November! All donations were to go to the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) in Los Angeles, a shelter that provides safe, supportive housing for homeless women and offers them opportunities to become self-reliant and independent.

The flood of kindness was breathtaking. Many of you brought the items we’d requested; food, clothing, diapers, sanitary products, cleaning items, cookware and more. We even got a beautiful china tea set and some brand new cast iron pans! In fact, we had to rent a truck just to get all the donations to the shelter!

Some of you expressed regret that you couldn’t fit items into your luggage, or weren’t able to purchase any before coming to the convention. Not to worry, because you so graciously opened your hearts and your wallets and donated over $700! One supporter explained to us that if she could afford to spend so much money on herself, she could afford to spend it on others. Now that’skindness!

This was my first time ever working a table at a convention, and more than once I was almost brought to tears by your generosity and compassion. Thank you so much for all your kind words and encouragement, and remember that Random Acts is what it is because of people like you. Anyone can perform a random act of kindness, and they all add up to help make the world a better place for everyone.
