How to Prepare for E4K

What do you think when you hear the word ‘endurance’? For me, it’s as much a state of mind as it is a physical challenge.

With less than a month until the first Random Acts global endurance event, many have already signed up while others are still wondering how to participate. With that in mind, I have put together some hints and tips on how to prepare for the big day.

  1. Be creative. You have carte blanche to do whatever sort of activity you’d like, so long as it will challenge you and inspire others to pledge to see you do it. If you want to run, then great! Why not get a group together and pretend zombies are chasing you? Silliness is encouraged. Men, try walking as far as you can in a pair of ladies heels.
  2. Don’t do it alone. Performing a task with others is a great motivational tool. You can support and encourage each other to go that extra mile…even when you’re sore and tired.
  3. Practice makes perfect. Do a trial on your event, or even several trials. It’ll give you an idea of how long/far you can go and set a benchmark to try and beat on the actual day.
  4. Hydrate. Remember to drink plenty of water no matter what you’re doing.

And finally keep the end goal in mind. This isn’t just about raising money. With each act of kindness you help fund, we are starting to change people’s perspective on the world around them. Think about the last time someone did something nice for you completely unexpected. Did it make you want to go out and do something nice for someone else?

That’s the world we want to see and together we can conquer the world…one random act of kindness at a time.
