Calling all Class Act participants!

RA_classacts_logo_CMYKRandom Acts’ Class Act award is an annual program that rewards schools around the world for performing creative and inventive acts of kindness in their community. The Class Act Award is specifically designed for classrooms, grade levels, sanctioned clubs or entire schools and encourages group projects that positively impact others. Projects can last for one afternoon or may be an extensive effort lasting an entire semester. Participants are asked to document their efforts and submit them to be considered for a monetary prize.

Earlier this summer we announced the winner and runner up of our annual Class Act award program, the Az Zahraa Academy and Richmond Jewish Day School in Richmond, British Columbia, and Cindy Sung of Dunloggin Middle School in Ellicott City, Maryland. We were thrilled by their impressive attempts to band together with neighbors and fellow residents to help others and were inspired by their words and actions enough to award them their respective prize winnings.

Of course, these weren’t the only two amazing acts submitted during the 2013-2014 Class Act award program: over the prior year, we received dozens of different act proposals and beautifully documented projects from several schools, teachers, and students who all felt strongly about making a difference. We’re hoping that these same types of wave-makers will jump back into the game again this year and as such, we’ve decided to lend a helping hand.

As we officially relaunch the Class Act 2014-2015 program and open it up once more for submissions, we’d also like to show you just how much we appreciate your amazing hard work by implementing an official Class Act media kit that you can download here. It’s full of fun tools and materials that teachers and organizers can utilize for planning and instructional purposes. The kit also includes stickers and labels to print out and use during approved acts.

In addition to a full media kit, our Events team has also put together an official recommendation letter for individuals to send out to schools or groups that they think might benefit from participating in the program.

The deadline for submissions this period is April 30th, 2015. You may submit your projects at any time up until that point and they will be held until the judging period begins.

If you’d like to get involved, make sure to check out our Class Act page for more details on the program and to download any forms you might need or to read up on the fine print.

We can’t wait to see how you’re changing the world one random act of kindness at a time– it’s time to get out there and start planning!
