After last year’s popular 12 Acts of Kindness blog series, we have returned again with lots of ideas for you to put a bit of kindness into your corner of the world. Check this space often for new inspiration as we head toward 2014.
When someone falls ill, it’s a scary time. Sometimes there are physical changes in a person that are unsettling – not just for the person who is sick, but for family and friends who don’t expect such a change.
Do what you can. Fear can keep us from visiting those we love when they become sick. It’s natural. But even if you can’t visit in person, you can be there for those who are infirm. Bring over some of their favorite meals, offer to drive them to doctor’s appointments, or send a card that says how much you care. And don’t forget their caretakers – family members who take care of those who are sick often feel guilty for taking the breaks from caregiving they need. Make sure to offer to help them, too. When in doubt, ask what they need — or make a specific offer of your talents. Drop by a DVD they haven’t seen, or a book on tape that the whole family can enjoy together. Maybe there is a craft you can make or a special project that will let them know how much you care.
